Nau Mai Haere Mai

The Elms Historic House is the oldest European heritage site in the Bay of Plenty, and is an essential stop for all visitors to Tauranga.

From this traditional English home, Maori were given the opportunity to learn about Christianity, and were educated in reading and writing, as well as agricultural and domestic skills.

                           House & Library Tour - $5.00

We welcome visitors to The Elms all year around. Our beautiful gardens are open to enjoy free of charge (allow approx. 30 mins).
 
The house and library are open 10am - 4pm, 7 days a week, at a small $5 fee.
 

 

About The Elms

The Church Missionary Society's Te Papa Mission Station (knows as The Elms) has been an important part of Tauranga's history since it was established in 1838 by Archdeacon Alfred Brown.
